Williams F1 Museum

July 2009

Love motorsport? Then you must have more than a passing interest in F1. For me, it's been a love/hate relationship full of highs and lows, passion and frustration, joy and anger. And quite a lot of my memories involve one particular team...Williams. Whether it was Mansell’s world championship win in "Red 5", Schumacher taking out Hill in Australia 1994, then failing to take out Villeneuve three years later in Spain, Patrese's spectacular collision with Berger in Portugal 1992 and many more.

So, when I was presented with a chance to visit The Williams F1 Factory and Museum in Grove, Oxfordshire, courtesy of Bridgestone Tyres, how could I refuse?

Whilst photography was not allowed in the factory, we were allowed almost everywhere - the aerodynamics facility was out of bounds though. Our lovely guide, Emma, really knew her stuff too. Then we moved on to the museum - Frank’s own personal collection - with examples of every F1 car raced by the team, and some that didn’t (the six-wheel FW08B of 1982).

So, a huge thank you to Steve at Bridgestone and the team at Williams. Museum photos are below...enjoy.

Gav.
